F1 News: Red Bull adviser Helmut Marko thinks Max Verstappen underestimated the incident where he nearly hit a curb during the Canadian GP last weekend.
Max Verstappen successfully won the Canadian GP, which was his sixth win of the season. He also amazed the fans as his score in Montreal allowed him to equal Ayrton Senna who won 41 F1 victories.
Few people know, the rider expressed his relief via team radio after nearly crashing to the pavement at turn 8-9 of Circuit Gilles Villeneuve during the final stage of the race.
“I almost dropped on that sidewalk, haha!” said Verstappen jokingly.
This turned out to be the aim of Red Bull adviser Helmut Marko. The Austrian reckons Max Verstappen is lucky to be able to finish the Canadian GP injury-free after going through two pretty stressful moments. He then reminded the defending champion to be even more careful when approaching the pavement as it had happened on several occasions.
“Max himself also had two moments. First he hit a bird. It didn’t end well for the bird, but luckily we didn’t suffer any damage in terms of chilling or whatever. whether it’s like,” Marko said.
“The second is that he’s a bit overconfident on the vibrator. I don’t know if he’s seen it himself on TV, as he often does. It also shows how much thinking capacity there is left .
“The overview he has is excellent. What was there at that time was already behind him, so he could always look ahead,” he concluded.
