Solopos.com, MANITOBA – This unique story about kids being swapped as babies doesn’t just happen on TV soap operas. In the real world, this story was experienced by a pair of Canada’s best friends, David Tait and Leon Swanson.

David and Leon were born in the Norway Hospital owned by the government of the province of Manitoba, Canada, on the same day in 1975. But after undergoing an examination, the nurse turned out to hand them over to the wrong parents.

For 41 years, David lived with a family that should have belonged to Leon. On the contrary, during this period, Leon lived with his parents, who were in fact the biological father and mother of his best friend.

As reported by the page MirrorsOn Monday (8/29/2016), two friends who live in a small town of 5,000 people never felt anything strange in their lives until earlier this year, their family received a letter from the Ministry of health.

The letter contains a summons to do a DNA test. At a press conference last week, Canadian Health Minister Jane Pilpot announced that David and Leon had in fact been switched when they were babies. He also apologized for the mistake made.

“The victims of this fallacy are not just David and Leon. They also have families who have lived together all this time and all of them are currently injured. We are truly sorry for this matter,” Jane said.

Upon hearing the DNA test results, David, Leon and the family members present shed tears.

“I have mixed feelings right now, angry and confused. Today the results of this test are going to change our lives forever. But I don’t know what to say,” David said.

For your information, the baby-swap case that happened to David and Leon is the second in Manitoba. The previous case also happened due to Norway Hospital’s mistake, but was successfully discovered in November 2015.
