Badung (ANTARA) – Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau considers Indonesia capable of leading the G20 in difficult situations and political tensions and succeeding in reaching a final agreement at the G20 summit in Bali.
Speaking at a press conference after the G20 summit in Nusa Dua, Badung, Bali on Wednesday, Prime Minister Trudeau said the G20, under the leadership/presidency of Indonesia, had been able to produce the Bali Declaration (G20 Bali Leaders’ Statement).
Trudeau acknowledged that the process of reaching consensus or agreement at the G20 forum is never easy, especially when certain issues impact the global economy – involving many actors, and when countries have different perspectives.
“However, thanks to the efforts made by Indonesia, and again, we must recognize the leadership of President Joko Widodo – thanks to his leadership, all members of the G20 were able to find consensus,” Trudeau said while responding to questions. media questions.
He considered that the Bali Declaration had succeeded in containing a strong statement of position, particularly in response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine and its impact which could trigger a global food and economic crisis.
“Every party that attempted this (successfully, editor's note) should be congratulated. Everyone who attended the meeting, especially the Indonesian leaders,” Trudeau said.

He said the Bali Declaration contained a number of quite ambitious goals, including those related to climate action and the global health architecture.
Nonetheless, Trudeau said the world had high hopes for the G20 and so it was appropriate for the world's largest economic forum to set ambitious goals.
Canada, he said, understands the various challenges facing Indonesia and other countries around the world.
Climate change, energy security, efforts to create a zero- or low-emissions world, and efforts to create decent jobs – so everyone can provide for their families – are examples of the challenges that 'he mentioned.

The G20 summit took place on November 15-16, 2022 in Apurva Kempinski, Nusa Dua, Bali, and resulted in an agreement summarized in a document called the Bali Declaration.

“The use of nuclear weapons cannot be tolerated. A peaceful solution must be offered, efforts to overcome the crisis, such as diplomacy and dialogue, remain important. The era of war as it is currently unfolding must stop immediately,” they said.
