Bisnis.com, JAKARTA – Member of popular South Korean boy band Suga collaborated with soloist IU with a song titled “People Pt. 2” on Friday (04/07/23). This song has topped various music platforms such as Spotify and iTunes .
Suga will be the fifth BTS member to debut as a soloist. His stage name as a soloist is Agust D, which he has previously used for mixtapes or individual songs. The members who made their solo debut are JHope, Jin, RM, and Jimin.
According to The Korea Times, this single is part of Suga’s first solo album. The first solo album “D-Day” will be released on April 21, 2023. This song is their first collaboration since Suga participated in IU’s hit song “Eight” which was released in May 2020. This album completes the trilogy of mixtape which was released previously, namely “Agust D” (2016) and “D-2” (2020).
BigHit Entertainment, the entertainment agency overseen by Suga, confirmed that the single topped the iTunes charts in 87 countries on Saturday (8/4/23) at 9:00 a.m. KST. The song has won No. 1 on iTunes Top Songs charts in countries like the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada. Additionally, the music video for “People Pt.2” has also been viewed over 7 million times on YouTube.
Reporting by Soompi, “People Pt.2” from its first day till now has occupied number 11 on the Global Top Songs platform chart on Spotify with 3,404,828 listeners. The song is IU’s first song to enter the top 15 of Spotify’s global charts. Oricon also officially announced that the song reached number 1 on the Daily Digital Singles Chart on April 7, 2023.
Suga in preparing for his solo debut has been supported by various parties. Not only the songs he has released, Suga will also be directing a Disney+ documentary. Titled ‘SUGA: Road to D-DAY’, this documentary will tell the story of Suga’s journey through his music career and his travels to various countries.
Suga also announced his world tour as a series of US and Asian debuts. The “SUGA I Agust D Tour” will be held from April 26 to June 25, 2023. It will tour Belmont Park, Newark, Rosemont, Los Angeles, Oakland, Jakarta, Kanagawa, Bangkok, Singapore, and Seoul.
As the opening Asia tour, Suga’s solo concert will be held for three consecutive days in Indonesia from May 26 to 28, 2023 at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD. Ticket prices that were sold on March 27 and 28 are priced from IDR 1.35 million to IDR 3.5 million.
