Jakarta: Apple recently activated the Emergency SOS function via satellite, which is available on the iPhone 14 series in the United States and Canada. This feature would have helped a man stranded in Nimiuk Point, Alaska.
The Alaska Department of Public Safety released a report saying the stranded snowmobile was rescued by Alaska State Troops on Dec. 1 at 2 a.m. local time after the person was activated the emergency SOS function on his iPhone.
To quote GSM Arenathe report states that Apple’s Emergency Response Center has contacted the Northwest Arctic Region Search and Rescue Department with the precise GPS coordinates of the stranded man.

A four member volunteer team from the government agency then dispatched and found the man. The Apple Emergency SOS feature is currently only available to Apple device users in the United States and Canada.
This feature is set to roll out to wider regions soon, with France, Germany, Ireland and the UK later this month. Previously, Apple’s 2022 iPad was in for a teardown by iFixit.
