Bisnis.comJAKARTA – Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Thursday (3/31/2022) said he did not want to see the president Russia Vladimir Putin at the meeting G20 this year to be held in Indonesia. He expressed it directly to the Indonesian President, Joko Widodo.
“It’s going to be a big problem for many countries, including Canada,” he told reporters in Ottawa.
Trudeau explained that the G20 summit is about how its members can manage and drive economic growth around the world.
“Russia her illegal invasion of Ukraine has disrupted economic growth for everyone in the world and she is unlikely to be a constructive partner in how we deal with the crisis created by the illegal invasion of Ukraine by Russia,” he added.
“The bottom line is that it is impossible for business as usual to have Vladimir Putin sitting around the table pretending that everything is fine, because it is not, and that is his mistake.”
Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden has said he supports expelling Russia from the main G20 economic group. Meanwhile Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison says Putin should be banned from attending the summit G20 in Bali.
Brazil and China oppose it, while Indonesia has so far said it will remain impartial.
