DJPB: South Sulawesi exports in 2022 will reach $2.71 billion

Makassar (ANTARA) – South Sulawesi Chief Treasury Board (DJPb) Kanwil Supendi said that South Sulawesi’s export business from January to December 2022 was recorded at $2.71 billion.

“For exports, South Sulawesi has several export commodities which are its mainstay, like nickel and others,” he said in Makassar on Friday.

Supendi said South Sulawesi has had a trade surplus for the past three years and in 2022 the trade surplus will be $1.52 billion.

He explained that the export trade sector was recorded at 2.71 billion US dollars or increased by 48.97% (year-on-year).

Compared to the import balance which was recorded at US$1.20 billion, South Sulawesi’s trade surplus was US$1.52 billion.

“South Sulawesi’s export-import sector will experience a trade balance surplus from the beginning of 2020 to the end of 2022,” he said.

Supendi said South Sulawesi’s trade surplus even exceeded the national surplus which continued to be a surplus until the 31st month, while South Sulawesi had a surplus until the 35th month.

. The main products exported each month are nickel, iron and steel, oilseeds, rubber lacquer. and resin, sulfur and lime salt, fish and shrimp, processed animal feed, processed meat and fish, sugar and confectionery, and fruit.

The former head of Jambi province’s treasury general directorate said the top 10 commodities in the south could contribute $2.71 billion in exports to the trade balance.

Most export markets are for Japan, China, Taiwan, India, Bangladesh, South Korea, Australia, Timor Leste, Fiji and the Philippines.

Meanwhile, the products imported from South Africa are not fuel oil (BBM); wheat, sugar and confectionery, processed animal foods, aircraft or mechanical engines, electrical machinery and equipment, cocoa, chemicals, ceramic products, iron and steel.

Most imports come from China, Singapore, Australia, Thailand, Malaysia, Argentina, India, Brazil, Canada and Japan.
