Bisnis.comJAKARTA – The government is requesting the collaboration of other private airlines to serve routes to eastern Indonesia in accordance with the plan to return 18 CRJ-1000 bombers operated by PT Garuda Indonesia Tbk. (GIAA) to its donors.
plt. Director General of Civil Aviation at the Ministry of Transport, Nur Isnin, said connectivity in eastern Indonesia can still be maintained through a number of collaborative efforts. So, although Garuda Indonesia returns a number of aircraft types, bomber which has been used extensively to serve eastern Indonesia, other airlines may still serve.
“With the return of CRJ aircraft from Garuda, flight routes that have been served by CRJ aircraft are currently still served by other aircraft types such as the ATR, A320 and even the B733,” said declared Monday, Monday (8/8/2022).
The type of aircraft that will serve the routes in the Eastern region is adapted to the capacity of the airport operated by the scheduled commercial air transport business entity. Apart from GIAA, there are also Sriwijaya Group and Lion Group and other airlines that serve routes in eastern Indonesia, both with direct flights and indirect or transit flights.
Monday admitted that with the number of aircraft currently available, a number of routes are reduced in frequency but still served.
“It is then that we and our airline partners are accelerating the realization of the increase in the number of aircraft to better meet the needs of service users to support economic activities, both logistics, trade, tourism and others”, did he declare.
Earlier, Garuda announced that it would replace the CRJ 1000 bomber aircraft that had been returned to the lessor with another type of aircraft belonging to the company.
Irfan explained that he plans to replace less efficient aircraft types with more efficient ones in accordance with the approval of the company’s restructuring plan. One of them with the return of the bombers. Irfan assured that the connectivity fate of routes previously served by this aircraft type will continue.
“It is expected that the routes served by Bombardier will be replaced by other Garuda-owned aircraft or by Citilink-owned aircraft,” Irfan explained.
In the initial phase, 2 aircraft were fired first. The state-owned airline has a total of 18 bomber aircraft produced by a company based in Montreal, Canada.
Monitoring the development of the aircraft is part of monitoring the negotiation agreement with the lessor of the Bombardier CRJ-1000 aircraft, namely Nordic Aviation Capital or NAC and Export Development Canada or EDC.
The return of the aircraft is part of the aircraft restructuring strategy which is being carried out amid the finalization of the approval decision on the suspension of debt payment obligations. In particular the intensification of the company’s strategic plans in order to accelerate the turnaround in performance.
The return of the two Bombardier CRJ-1000 aircraft registrations PK-GRQ and PK-GRN took off at 09:00 WIB from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport to the MHIRJ Facility Service Center, Tucson, Arizona, USA.
Previously, on July 19, 2022, the codename issuer GIAA had also returned the sole fleet of Boeing 737 Max-8 aircraft with registration number PK-GDA to lessor Bocomm Leasing in the Netherlands.
At the same time, the restructuring of the company over the long term is also optimized thanks to an amicable agreement with the lessor relating to modifications or extensions of the lease contract. For example, applying the scheme power per hour for the payment of the rental costs of the aircraft where later the company will pay the rental costs according to the flight hours of the aircraft.
Through these strategic steps, Garuda Indonesia has succeeded in reducing the rental costs of narrow-body aircraft to approximately 30% and wide-body aircraft to approximately 69%.
On the other hand, Garuda will also assess the condition of the operating route by adjusting the type of aircraft according to the level of passenger occupancy through the use of large aircraft for the routes which contribute positively to the performance of the company.
Meanwhile, to offer various alternative international flight destinations to service users, Garuda Indonesia will maximize synergies with partner airlines either through interline or codeshare programs.
