Indonesian Embassy in Ottawa says Indonesian students who died in Canada will be autopsied

Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) for Canada tell the body of a IR students named Grace Karundeng who die will be recently autopsied.

Grace is believed to have died in her Toronto apartment, about 500 kilometers from the capital Ottawa, on January 7. However, the cause of his death is not yet known.

“The hospital that performed the autopsy is Humber River Hospital. The results of the autopsy will be officially released to the family within the day from the hospital. After that, the body will be buried at the funeral home before being be transported to Indonesia.” Indonesian Ambassador to Canada Daniel Simanjuntak said in a statement to CNNIndonesia.comTuesday (11/1).

Daniel said the Indonesian Embassy in Ottawa and the Indonesian Consulate General in Toronto received information from the public about Grace’s death on Jan. 8.

The Indonesian Consulate General in Toronto, Daniel said, immediately contacted Grace’s parents in Indonesia.

Earlier, virtual media were shocked by the news of the deaths of two Indonesian students in the United States.

The two students were named Timothy Dien and Grace Karundeng. Timothy studies at Campion Academy in Loveland, Colorado, USA, while Grace studies at Humber College, Toronto, Canada.

So far, there has been no news from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the Indonesian Consulate General in Los Angeles whether Timothy’s body will also be autopsied.

“There has been manipulation from relevant parties in the local country and also from the family. Indonesian representatives in Los Angeles and Toronto have been coordinating with the family,” the spokesperson for the Indonesian Ministry of Health said. Foreign Affairs, Teuku Faizasyah, to CNNIndonesia.com, Tuesday (1/11).
