Kevin Magnussen doesn’t blame De Vries for blows at Canadian GP

F1 News: Kevin Magnussen believes Nyck de Vries accidentally hit him at the Canadian GP and believes his rival braked late at Turn 3 at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.

Kevin Magnussen and Nyck de Vries failed to score points at the Canadian GP. It all started with De Vries’ attempt to overtake his rival at turn 3 of Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. Unfortunately, the Dutchman’s car tire locked up and hit Magnussen off the track.

Magnussen, known as an aggressive racer in combat on the track, was reluctant to care what had happened to him.

“I was on the outside, got blocked and ended up with him, so it was unlucky for me. He ran pretty hard for sure, but who am I to Complain about it?” says the man from Denmark, quoted by Crash.

“I think the problem is that he missed the braking at turn 3 and took me with him. I don’t think he did it on purpose.”

Meanwhile, Nyck de Vries assessed the collision with Kevin Magnussen as an ordinary racing incident.

“We just raced hard (corners) 1, 2, and I cut and was on the floor. (We) pushed hard to that braking point and I locked up and went wide. It was kind of a fight and a racing incident,” said the former Formula E driver.

“I felt like I had the momentum and I thought I had it, but then he almost ran through the grass at the curb to get me and we just fought. I think it’s racing,” he continued.

“Of course we will finish better, but if we are honest with ourselves I don’t think we have the package to fight for the points,” he concluded.
