F1 News: Williams boss Jost Capito says Nicholas Latifi felt under pressure as he couldn’t overtake Alex Albon and Nyck de Vries despite having the same car.

This season, Nicholas Latifi is Williams’ longest-serving driver. He has strengthened the England squad since the 2020 season. However, the performance has fallen short of expectations.

In the three years he joined Williams, Latifi had only entered the points zone twice, namely in the 2021 Hungarian GP and the 2021 Belgian GP. of his juniors, Alex Albon and Nyck De Vries.

Albon, who has just joined F1 2022, is in fact capable of becoming a points barn for Williams. The British-Thai runner collected a total of four points.

While De Vries, who was named Albon’s replacement at the Italian GP, was able to finish ninth and offer two points.

Seeing this, Nicholas Latifi is certainly in bad shape in the race for places at Williams for the 2023 season. Moreover, the Mercedes-powered team are said to be considering the Albon-De Vries duo.

Williams boss Jost Capito then revealed that Latifi is currently feeling depressed.

“As a Formula 1 driver you have to handle the pressure. There are only 20 seats, and you have to be the best to get those seats,” he told Motorsport.com.

“At the moment he is in a difficult situation. He has to catch up with other riders who are faster than him, and that depresses him,” added Capito.

“We have to start analyzing his performance now, given that there are many potential riders fighting for our seats,” he continued.

Not only losing his competitiveness during the competition, Latifi also had to admit the superiority of De Vries during the qualifying session of the Italian GP. The Formula E driver started from P8, while Latifi from P10. That’s why he felt frustrated because he wasn’t competitive in various aspects.
