Runners from around the world take part in the 2022 Highlands Half Marathon

Idea Run Race Director Safrita Aryana said runners from various countries will host the 2022 Highland Half Marathon (HHM) in Sentul City, Bogor, West Java on November 27.

A month before events At the event, a number of foreign participants had registered, including from the United States, Japan, India, Canada, Madagascar and the Netherlands.

“Registration is still open. We are targeting 3,500 runners to participate in the 2022 Highland Half Marathon,” Safrita told a conference at Hutan Kota by Plataran, GBK Region, Jakarta on Friday.

After the first edition rolled out in 2019, the event had its own charm. Because in addition to running, participants also enjoy the beautiful scenery and the relatively cool climate at an altitude of around 200 to 500 meters above sea level.

As before, this year the central location of the race will remain on Jalan Siliwangi and the location of the race village in Taman Budaya area, Sentul City.

The running competition also has several other features, apart from the track hilly.

The classes that are contested are divided into Open (under 40), Master class in the 41-50 age group and the 51+ age group.

“Thus, this activity should be able to accommodate runner masters with a more age-friendly filter,” HHM adviser Jimmy Tjahjanto said.

Participants will compete in three categories, namely the 21 km/Half Marathon (HM) distance, 10 km and 5 km. Another advantage is the relatively loose Cut Off Time (COT). By way of illustration, for the distance category HM, COT or the maximum limit for runners to reach the finish line is four hours.

“This is done to give runners the opportunity to enjoy the course, as well as to respond to situations due to the pandemic which may prevent runners from training as intensely as usual,” he added.

Thus, the runners will be able to comfortably reach the finish line and obtain their respective finishing medals in this event which is disputed for a total prize of Rp. 200 million.

As in 2019, in addition to organizing competitions, the organizers also present a variety of entertainment.

“We prepared line up cool performers,” Aida Ristany, Commercial Director of Sentul Highlands Golf Club, who is also the chair of the HHM committee.

Riders can also enjoy a variety of stage entertainment while enjoying a variety of food and beverages provided free of charge.

“We will also be serving durian to the runners. The flow of food and drink distribution has also been well regulated to ensure runners get a share, including finishers who arrive later,” Aida added.

In essence, the management of the Sentul City group devotes the competition to the concept of “Move the City” to please the participants.

“So that through this activity, positive energy can be obtained, which will contribute to the spirit of productivity and positivism after nearly three years of uncertain situations due to the pandemic,” Aida stressed.

On the other hand, this event should also be a contribution to a larger target, in particular by integrating it into a destination sports tourism or sports tourism in West Java.

The presence of 3,500 runners, some of whom may come with family or friends, will have an impact on the movement of the local economy.

Thus, this competition is destined to be an activity that will continue for years to come and become a prestigious destination for running fans to be able to run as well as travel in Bogor Regency.

“It is a form of support that, among other things, we can dedicate to Bogor Regency through this HHM,” said Aida.
