2023 Sudirman Cup results: Beat Canada 5-0, Indonesian badminton team claim first victory

The third game of the Sudirman Cup Indonesia vs Canada was filled with women’s singles. This time, Gregoria Mariska Tunjung was challenged by young player Talia Ng.

Srikandi Merah Putih is forced to go through a tough game. The playing duo were involved in a chase at the start of the first game. Gregoria was only able to take the lead as the break approached. The representatives of Indonesia dominated by three points with 11-8 during the break of the first set.

Indonesian women’s singles are playing more and more after the break. He didn’t give the opponent much space to develop. In a relatively short time, Gregoria managed to seal the victory with 21-14.

Talia tried to get up in the second set. He took a lot of initiatives to attack, so he was able to lead the points with 3-7. However, Gregoria who did not keep silence immediately took control near the break.

He excelled again at the break, before finishing the match 21-13 which led the Indonesian badminton team to a 3-0 victory over Canada.

The long-awaited action of Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Marcus Fernaldi Gideon colored the course of the fourth men’s doubles match. The pair dubbed The Minions were able to prove their quality by winning 21-16 in the opening set.

Unfortunately, Kevin/Marcus struggled a bit to maintain their dominance early in the second game. The Canadian pair who played more aggressively managed to force them into a 0-6 trailing position.

Armed with experience, the Minions are slowly able to push back. Suddenly, Kevin / Marcus managed to equalize before winning 11-7 at the break. The Indonesian pair immediately stepped on the gas after the break.

The Canadian duo had tried to turn things around at the end of the second set. However, strong Kevin/Marcus play earned the Red and White team the fourth point after the Minions won 21-18 in the second set.

Lanny Tria Mayasari/Ribka Sugiarto then perfected Indonesia’s victory in the final game. The red and white women’s doubles won against rivals Catherine Choi/Michelli Li with 21-11 and 21-8
