The 2023 U-17 World Cup will also be the first time VAR will be used in Indonesia. The U-17 World Cup precedes the BRI Liga 1 which plans to use VAR in the second round of the competition or next year.

The moment VAR was used occurred in the 68th minute. At that moment, Ibrahim Kanate was seen knocked down by Uzbek player Bekhruz Jumumov, in the restricted area.

However, Uruguayan referee Gustavo Tajera did not consider this a violation. However, recently, Tajera received a notification from the VAR team in a corner of the Manahan Stadium.

Gustavo Tajera then wanted to see for himself the repetition of the violation incident. However, the referee ran into problems.
