5.2% optimism for the economy 2022, Coordinating Ministry of the Economy: three quarters up more than 5%

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Secretary of the Coordinating Ministry for Economy Susiwijono Moegiarso is optimistic about the possibility of achieving the economic growth target of 5.2% in 2022. He also predicts that growth will reach 5.3% in 2024.

“Because the Indonesian economy is still capable of growing above 5% for 3 consecutive quarters amid high global uncertainty due to The Perfect Storm,” he said in a statement written on Friday 28 October 2022.

According to him, the outlook for the national economy also looks bright. This is reflected in the various leading indicators that are on the expansive path. To maintain the momentum of economic recovery, he said, the government will continue to implement key pandemic management strategies and policies, including coordinating fiscal policy as a shock absorber.

This step includes continuing the program Economic recovery National (PEN) amounting to Rs 455.6 trillion, which focuses on health management, community protection and boosting economic recovery.

Meanwhile, in the long run, the government will push for structural reforms, one of which is through the implementation of the Job Creation Act. In particular, he said, related to the simplification and convenience of the licensing process, and the expansion of various business areas for investment.

On the other hand, he thinks the forum G20 have a significant impact on economic recovery. Because according to him, the G7 and G20 countries really illustrate the architecture of the economic system of tomorrow. These countries are also devoting various resources to finding effective responses to the crisis.

He believes that the G20 forum will have an impact on economic recovery through three main approaches, namely the strengthening of multilateral cooperation, concrete deliverables and the definition of orientations for future economic and financial policies.

He explained that escalating geopolitical tensions lead to difficulties in maintaining dialogue between countries. For the G20 forum to become a forum for dialogue that can focus on efforts to resolve the impact of the global crisis.

“Through the theme ‘Recover Together, Recover Stronger’, Indonesia will highlight the importance of cooperation and collaboration in recovery efforts so that no person, country or region is left behind,” did he declare.

Therefore, he hopes all elements can support the smooth and successful implementation of the G20 summit, which is an important element to ensure the success of Indonesia’s G20 chairmanship in 2022.
