JAKARTA – Sum 41 have announced that they will be disbanding after their last world tour.
The Canadian rock band, which includes Deryck Whibley, Dave Baksh, Jason “Cone” McCaslin, Tom Thacker and Frank Zummo, shared the news on social media on May 8.
“Being on Sum 41 since 1996 has given us some of the best times of our lives,” the post said.
“We are forever grateful to our fans, old and new, who have supported us in every way. It is difficult to express the love and respect we have for all of you and we want you to hear it from first of us.
“Sum 41 will be disbanded. We are still finalizing all of our upcoming tour dates later this year, and look forward to releasing our latest album Heaven:x:Hell, as well as one final world tour to celebrate. Details will be announced as soon as we have them.
“For now, we look forward to seeing all of you skumfuks on the road and excited for what the future holds for each of us. Thank you for the past 27 years of Sum 41.”
Sum 41 began their career as the cover band NOFX in 1996. Their debut album, Any killer with no fillerwas released in May 2001 and spawned some of their biggest hits, including Big lip, too deepAnd Motivation.
Sum 41’s latest album, Declining orderwas released in 2019. In 2022, Whibley revealed that the band had completed a double album titled heaven and hell.
