LIVE the world – Canada on Thursday, May 11, 2023, unveiled new passport designs with advanced security features, including a new set featuring the new King of England, His Royal Highness King Charles III, as part of regular upgrades.

The new passport will feature a coat of arms, making Canada the first Commonwealth country to introduce a series of travel documents referencing King Charles III.

Previously, Canadian passports displayed the Queen’s symbol when the passports were made, before King Charles III finally approved the new version.

The new passport features feature personal information laser-engraved instead of printed in ink on the polycarbonate data page. This is a design that has a strong anti-fraud component.

“The passport will also include a Kinegram on the main photo, a special transparent window with a secondary image of the passport holder, a variable laser image and temperature-sensitive ink feature, an Immigration press release, Refugees and Citizenship Canada,” IRCC, the agency of Immigration Canada, said as quoted by On SundayFriday, May 12, 2023.

The Canadian passport ranks fourth in the world for its mobility score based on the Passport Index, alongside seven other countries, including the United States, Australia and Japan.
