Yogyakarta (Kemenag) — Fadhil Mufti Putra Fatria, a class 12 student of MIPA MAN 1 Yogyakarta, did a high class feat. This student, colloquially known as Fadhil, was accepted into five foreign universities at once.
The five campuses are University of British Columbia, Canada, Vancouver Campus, Environmental Geography and Sustainability Studies Program, Faculty of Arts; University of Toronto, Canada: St. George, Environmental Geography Curriculum, Faculty of Arts and Science, and Scarborough Campus, Environmental Geoscience Curriculum, Faculty of Arts and Science; University of Sydney, Australia, Darlington/Camperdown Campus, Geography Studies Program, Faculty of Science; Monash University, Australia, Clayton Campus, Geographical Sciences Degree Program, Faculty of Science; and University of Western Australia, Australia, Crawley Campus, Integrated Earth and Marine Science Study Program, Faculty of Science.
“Thank God, I really did not expect it. And I am determined to choose the Faculty of Science at the University of British Columbia, in Vancouver, Canada,” Fadhil said on Tuesday (03/07/ 2023).
He is interested in this major because there are many block materials that suit his needs. He also became interested in Canada because he wanted to study limnology (the study of lakes), especially since Canada is famous for its many lakes not found in Indonesia.
“In my opinion, the University of British Columbia (UBC) is the right place because it is located near the sea, which makes it more comfortable,” said the student born in 2005, who dreams of becoming Geospatial Analyst in Meteorology and Cartographer Field.
To enroll in UBC, he has already participated in the PTLN Preparation Program of Batch 2 of the Indonesia Advanced Scholarship (BIM) selection to facilitate his wish. May-June 2022 is the period when he registers for BIM. “Thank God I was accepted. Enrollment in several universities will start from late November 2022 to early February 2023 with the help of BIM,” explained the son of Fatechul Hadi and Tri Lestari.
As a provision, he says, he still needs to prepare a lot, including mentally. Therefore, he tries to get used to future conditions, especially the challenge of language differences. He often practices to improve his English skills, not only for the purpose of getting high test scores, such as IELTS, IBT, but also for daily communication.
The head of the regional office of the ministry of religion DIY, Masmin Afif, said that the achievements of Fadhil were very proud of the ranks of the madrasah DIY. “Congratulations Fadhil, we are all proud of this achievement. Remember this is just the beginning of your journey, keep trying, achieve the best achievements in the future,” Masmin said.
According to the Kakanwil, what student Yogyakarta MAN 1 wrote will really inspire madrasah students not only in DIY but also in Indonesia. “I hope this inspires madrasah students all over Indonesia. Congratulations again!” concludes Kakanwil.
