VIVA Business – Politics and public policy expert Rocky Gerung highlighted the Archipelago Capital (IKN) project which is currently being promoted by the government of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
The philosophy teacher said President Jokowi’s decision was ridiculous as he did not understand the promoted IKN project. Rocky said Canada is highly unlikely to fund the IKN project.
“President Jokowi was in Tokyo, he offered IKN to the Prime Minister of Canada for IKN to be funded. Of course, that’s a bad thing,” Rocky said when he became a speaker at the Think Tank hosted by UIN Alauddin Makassar Political Science Students, at UIN Alauddin Makassar Campus 1 on Tuesday, May 23, 2023.
According to Rocky, Canada is actually anti-deforestation, meaning a country that really cares about the environment. While IKN is a project that ignores the principles of environmental sustainability.

For Jokowi’s attitude, Rocky gave a unique comparison like Javanese who offer gudeg in Makassar. Therefore, Rocky believes that Jokowi made a mistake when he proposed the IKN development investment cooperation. He called Canada the opposite of what was behind the project.
