Pinterest has announced a slew of new Pride Month programming, including special live streams, shopping highlights and new partnerships with RuPaul’s Drag Race winner Sasha Colby.
Colby will be sharing exclusive content, along with a collection of beauty tips and tricks. Colby, a longtime Pinterest user, will also take the opportunity to highlight how the platform can foster positivity and expression for all users.
Pinterest is also teaming up with Tastemade on a series of new videos a series that will spotlight LGBTQ+ creators, businesses, famous drag artists, and more.
Pinterest will also host various related promotions within the app.
“Throughout Pride Month, Pinterest will be highlighting a few Active LGBTQIA+ creators The inspiration of the day. People can find ideas for self-expression, health, LGBTQIA+ travel destinations, and more. Pinners will find products from LGBTQIA+ brands in Shopping Highlights on Pinterest in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, Germany, France, Brazil, Mexico, Spain and Italy.
Pinterest says user interest gender expression and queer fashion and beauty are on the rise, with searches for terms like “u”understand gender” (+550%), “non-binary outfit” (+355%) and “long non-binary haircuts” (+405%) have all gained popularity in recent months.
As it strives to be a hotbed of positivity and inclusion, it’s important for Pinterest to highlight and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and showcase these creators, which could also provide more opportunities for brands on Pinterest to connect with users through themed promotions.
