10 new shooting points found

Bisnis.comJAKARTA – The Canadian Interagency Wildfire Center (CIFFC) reported that there were ten locations of new wildfires that occurred in Canada on Friday (9/6), bringing the total number of wildfires in this country so far this year at 2,405.

In a daily update on its website, CIFFC said there were 422 active wildfires on Friday, down from 431 on Thursday (8/6). The number of wildfires in Canada fell to 219 on Friday from 234 on Thursday.

As of Friday, the center said there were 89 wildfires that had been contained and 114 brought under control.

Wildfires in Canada have so far scorched some 45,000 square kilometers of land, making 2023 one of the worst years on record.

In Alberta, erratic weather brings new beginnings. Hot, dry and windy weather prevails in the north, and extreme fire weather is expected.

In Ontario, two major fires in the Far North had limited extinguishment and ignition measures.

There are expected to be more new lightning-caused fires than there have been, the center said.
