It has been three days since Sunday (6/18/2023) the submarine lost contact near the wreck of the Titanic in the Atlantic Ocean.

A pilot with four passengers on board lost contact about an hour and 45 minutes after a two-hour dive off the Canadian coast.

During the search, American and Canadian aircraft explored more than 7,600 square miles of deep sea.

This ship search mission also deploys sonobuoys to hear sounds coming from the ship Titan.

Titan Submarine Specifications

The Titan submarine is a tourist submarine that is part of an expedition led by a private company, OceanGate.

The company offers eight-day sea voyages to see the famous sinking of the Titanic.

The Titanic itself is a British passenger ship that sank in the North Atlantic Ocean on April 15, 1912 and currently lies 3,800 meters below the surface of the Atlantic.

Launch Reuters, the submarine has a length of up to 21 feet (6.4 meters) and is designed with the ability to survive underwater for 96 hours.

Capable of carrying five people, this vessel can descend up to 4,000 meters below sea level at a speed of three knots or 5.5 kilometers per hour.

Titan is also equipped with advanced lighting and a sonar navigation system to detect locations with ultrasound.

As a tourist vessel, Titan is also equipped with 4K video and photographic equipment installed both inside and outside.

This ship is also remotely controlled using the Logitech F710 game console.

Horrifying as it sounds, Titan isn’t the first ship to be controlled using a game console.

For information, the US Navy uses the Xbox 360 controller on the USS Colorado (SSN-788) combat submarine.
