Tennis News: Bianca Andreescu is determined to return with the best performance, even though in recent seasons the WTA tournament has been less than ideal for the tennis player.
After winning the 2019 US Open title and dominating the tennis court at one point four seasons ago, the Canadian is widely hailed as having a hugely successful career winning more than one Grand Slam title.
However, the Canadian national hasn’t won any titles since then and she even admitted that she considered quitting tennis at some point. Tennis fans are certainly happy that he didn’t and realize that he still wants to make his mark in the world of tennis. He also had to take a short break for the sake of his sanity.
Now, the 23-year-old is back and he will be playing at his home tournament the Canadian Open (Rogers Cup) in Montreal, where he will play the tournament with the help of a wildcard. The tournament will take place from August 7-13 and nearly two weeks before the tournament, he spoke to Sportsnet about his mentality and what winning meant to him in previous editions of the tournament.
“I always have that in mind. Of course I do this sport because I love it, but I also love everything that comes with the US Open. Young people say that I raise the racket because of you or that I just have the influence to start my own charity or talk about certain things like equality,” Andreescu said.
The Canadian also opened up about his nervous breakdown, including a waking moment that reminded him he wasn’t done. She is definitely capable of doing a lot more in the world of tennis and she has started moving up the WTA rankings.
“I took a long break mentally, I don’t think long, but six months basically took me away from sport. And it was a very low point in my life because I didn’t want to continue playing tennis anymore. I feel like tennis is everything to me and I seem to have forgotten Bianca Andreescu as a human being,” Andreescu continued.
“So during that period, I did all kinds of things. And there was like a waking moment where I felt like I wasn’t done.”
