“Also, our men’s and women’s teams won gold at the SEA Games yesterday. It means that this sport is growing. Basketball is a sport for millennials,” he added.

The SOE minister stressed that Perbasi is very serious about organizing the event which will take place from August 25 to September 3. Under the leadership of Danny Kosasih, Indonesia can host international events.

“We have to make sure that we will be one of the best committees. Also, the president built the Indonesia Arena yesterday. This is the first time that Indonesia has an arena with a capacity of 16,000 and not just for basketball but other sports, concerts, and so on,” he said.

Erick added that so far the preparations for the FIBA ​​Basketball World Cup 2023 in Jakarta have been almost perfect. Even all the games of Canada and France, all the games are sold out.

“But for the others, hopefully there will be a lot of support too. Because if you really want to have big events like this,” he said.

When asked which team he would support, Erick said he would support the team playing in Indonesia.

“I only support those who play in Indonesia, between Canada and winning Spain,” he joked.
