Basketball News World: Canadian National Team Head Coach Jordi Fernandez said he was pleased with his team’s performance in Sunday’s win over Lebanon (27/8). In the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 Group Stage, Canada destroyed Lebanon 128-73.
With the strength of superior players on paper, Canada had no trouble dismantling the Lebanese defence. From the first quarter, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and his friends immediately took off and finally won a landslide victory with a margin of more than 50 points. In this victory, almost all of the Canadian players looked solid and none of them stood out the most. All the players really appeared collectively and gave each other mature feedback. This collective game made Jordi Fernández proud.
“In matches like this, there are usually players who dominate and control the ball too much. I’m proud that the players can play different roles. Not only catching and shooting, but also providing assists,” said coach Jordi interviewed by local media.
With the victory against Lebanon, Canada have now collected 2 wins in the group stage of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023. They have one game left against Latvia later. This time around, Latvia themselves performed no less well in the group stage. On the same day, Latvia also managed to beat France with the final score of 88-86. This means that the winner between Canada and Latvia will later determine who emerges as the winner of Group H.
