22 countries participated. Here is the agenda for the 2023 ASEAN Summit in Jakarta

Bisnis.comJAKARTA – The 43rd ASEAN Summit will be held in Jakarta from September 5-7, 2023.

ASEAN Summit to be held at the Jakarta Convention Center will bring together 22 countries comprising 11 ASEAN countries, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Brunei Darussalam, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia and Timor-Leste.

Then nine countries were invited, including the Republic of Korea, India, Japan, China, New Zealand, Canada, Australia, Russia and the United States. In addition, Bangladesh was also present as the President of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) and the Cook Islands as the President of the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF).

Indonesia will also invite international organizations including the United Nations (UN), World Bank, International Monetary Fund (IMF), World Economic Forum, IORA and PIF.

The series of meetings of the 43rd ASEAN Summit started on August 29, 2023 and will culminate on September 5-7, 2023.

Several ministerial meetings were held on August 29, 2023, including the Asia Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) meeting. It is a socio-cultural pillar of Asean.

This will then be followed by the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) meeting in Jakarta on September 3, 2023, which is a meeting of ministers responsible for the economic pillar.

Here is the agenda schedule for the 43rd ASEAN Summit from September 4-7, 2023:

September 4, 2023

ASEAN foreign ministers are expected to hold a meeting during the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting (AMM) on September 4, 2023.

Separately, the Asia Political and Security Community (APSC) meeting will also be held on September 4, 2023. This agenda is a meeting of the leaders of the political and security pillars. Indonesia was represented by Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Politics, Law and Security (Menkopolhukam) Mahfud MD and Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi.

Then comes the meeting of the Asean Coordination Council (ACC), on September 4, 2023. It is also a meeting of foreign ministers.

“On the 4th, from morning to noon, after lunch, a series of ministerial meetings were held. In the afternoon, the plan is Mr. President. [Joko Widodo] will start bilateral meetings with the leaders who arrived at that time, until the evening,” Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi was quoted as saying on Sunday (3/9/2023).

September 5, 2023

During the 43rd ASEAN Summit, from September 5 to 7, in addition to the opening and closing, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will chair 12 meetings.

On September 5, there will be two main meetings chaired by Jokowi, namely the 43rd ASEAN Summit (plenary session) and the 43rd ASEAN Summit (retreat session). On the same day, President Jokowi will also hold a bilateral meeting.

September 6, 2023

Meanwhile, six meetings will take place on September 6, 2023, including the 26th ASEAN-China Summit; 24th ASEAN-Republic of Korea (ROK) Summit; 26th ASEAN-Japan Summit; 11th ASEAN-US Summit; ASEAN-Canada Summit; and the 26th Asean Plus Three (APT) Summit (Asean with Japan, the Republic of Korea and the PRC).

Furthermore, the Minister of Foreign Affairs indicated that if possible, a bilateral meeting would also take place on September 6, 2023.

September 7, 2023

There will be four meetings on September 7, 2023, including the 20th Asean-India Summit; 3rd ASEAN-Australia Summit; 13th ASEAN-UN Summit; and 18th East Asia Summit.

On September 7, there will also be several bilateral meetings. The bilateral meeting will also continue till September 8 in the morning and afternoon, while in the afternoon, President Jokowi will fly directly to India to attend the G20 Summit in India.
