Liputan6.com, Jakarta During the ASEAN-Indo-Pacific Forum (AIPF), Senior Director of PT PLN (Persero) Darmawan Prasodjo said that collaboration in energy transition is an important key to balancing the energy trilemma, namely security, affordability and durability. Therefore, the PLN tries to continue to strengthen cooperation on national energy security with the global energy community.
According to Darmawan, the energy transition is now increasingly possible because the tariffs for electricity from new renewable energies (EBT) are increasingly affordable. Nevertheless, the main challenge of the energy transition process lies in the financial aspect. Because EBT generators have characteristics that require large capital investments from the outset, even though their operating costs tend to be more economical.
“To carry out this commitment, Indonesia cannot walk alone. Indeed, the challenges are enormous, but having a forum like the AIPF gives us confidence that whatever the challenges, we will continue to move forward together,” did he declare.
Darmawan added that over the past 2 years, PLN has led various energy transition efforts. These measures include canceling plans to build a 13.3 gigawatt (GW) coal-fired power plant, replacing 1.1 GW of coal-fired power plants with renewable energy sources, and identifying 51.6% power plants based on EBT.
“We are currently designing and revising the national electric power plan. With this new system, we are aware of the mismatch between most renewable energy sources and load centers. Therefore, we will build a supergrid green to connect them,” he explained.
