Jakarta (ANTARA) – HMCS Winnipeg, one of the Canadian Navy’s frigates, docked in Jakarta for a visit from August 31 to September 3 during its voyage to the Indo-Pacific region.
This ship will participate in cooperative deployments with the Indonesian Navy to strengthen security and promote regional stability, the Canadian Embassy in Jakarta said in a statement on Thursday.
During the visit, Commander HMCS Winnipeg Annick Fortin will pay a courtesy call to Commander of the Republic of Indonesia Fleet Command, Vice Admiral Abdul Rasyid Kacong, and Commander of Fleet Command I, Rear Admiral Arsyad Abdullah to discuss issues of common interest. .
“Canada values its strong and growing bilateral relationship with Indonesia,” said Canadian Ambassador-designate to Indonesia Nadia Burger.
According to Burger, Canada views Indonesia as an important defense partner in the Indo-Pacific region, and Canada values Indonesia’s role in promoting peace, stability and prosperity in the region.
“As Canada and Indonesia celebrate 70 years of diplomatic relations, this ship’s visit is an expression of our shared commitment to deepening this increasingly important relationship,” he said.
The visit by Canadian military ship HMCS Winnipeg is part of Operation Projection, the deployment of sailors, ships and submarines to demonstrate Canada’s continued commitment to world peace.
