HOLOPIS.COM, JAKARTA – In the Indonesian men's singles, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, stopped in the semi-finals of the Indonesia Masters 2024 after losing to the representative of Canada, Brian Yang, on Saturday (27/1).
Appearing in Istora Senayan, Jakarta, Ginting went to a rubber match with a score of 21-13, 17-21, 19-21 against the world number 24 badminton player.
In this match, Ginting controlled the game from the start of the match. The Tokyo 2020 Olympic bronze medalist looked capable of dominating so Brian struggled to develop his game.
The momentum then shifted after Brian played more aggressively in the second game to reestablish the position.
Playing more aggressively, Ginting seemed to have difficulty controlling and so he had to admit the superiority of the Canadian men's singles.
“The match was close from start to finish. “In my opinion, in this match, the key was at the end of the match, when you were in front, your opponent changed their pattern of play so it was difficult for me to anticipate,” Ginting said after the match.
“When my opponent changed his game pattern, I felt less courageous in the game and reckless at critical moments. “There is a feeling of doubt in the game, so there is doubt in the attack,” he added.
With this result, Ginting failed to continue the positive trend after winning against Brian in the last three meetings. In the last round of 16 encounter of the Hong Kong Open 2023, Ginting managed to win decisively against Brian with a score of 21-9, 21-14.
