MANADOPOST.ID— Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary (LBBP) of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) to Canada and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Daniel Tumpal Simanjuntak has raised his voice regarding the abandonment of one of the students from North Sulawesi (Sulut) in Toronto, Canada, January 8, 2021, Grace Karundeng.
Contacting the editor-in-chief of the Manado Post last night, Simanjuntak began his statement by conveying his deep condolences to the extended family of Grace Karundeng. “As Indonesian Ambassador to Canada, I share my deep condolences for the tragedy experienced by the extended family of Grace Karundeng's sister,” he said via WhatsApp phone.
He continued, the Indonesian Embassy communicated with the Canadian authorities and the authorities. Currently, the deceased is still undergoing an autopsy at Humber Rivers Hospitals in Toronto.
“This is in accordance with the provisions of Canadian legal regulations, an autopsy must be performed. “The results will be forwarded to the Indonesian embassy and passed on to the family,” he explained.
The Indonesian Embassy, through the Indonesian Consul General in Toronto, also sued Simanjuntak, will hand over the autopsy results as well as the body of the deceased to the family. In addition to facilitating the repatriation of the body of the late Grace to Indonesia. “Everything was communicated between the family, both the aunt of the deceased in Toronto and that of Airmadidi,” he said, adding that updates on this incident would be made by the Consulate General of Indonesia in Toronto . “I have asked the Indonesian Consulate General to provide information to the Manado Post,” he added.
