Lewis Hamilton fears his winning record could be broken by Max Verstappen

F1 News: Lewis Hamilton says Max Verstappen will threaten to break his F1 wins record, especially as Verstappen is set to equal Ayrton Senna’s record if he wins at the Canadian GP.

Starting the Canadian GP race at the front of the grid, Max Verstappen has a great chance of taking his 41st Canadian GP victory this weekend. This number also puts him on par with three-time world champion Ayrton Senna.

Just 25 years old, Verstappen can certainly still have another 10 to 15 years of F1 career. With a long period of time remaining, the Dutch driver has a great chance of breaking Lewis Hamilton’s record of 103 wins.

Hamilton himself also sees that the opportunity to surpass his record is wide open, especially since Verstappen currently has the upper hand with his good performance with Red Bull.

“Max has done an extraordinary job,” Hamilton was quoted as saying by Crash. “He has had an extraordinary career so far and of course he will surpass it. Work to get to where the car needs to slow down.

“He has a very long career ahead of him. Ultimately, records are there to be broken. He has an extraordinary team, but like I said, we have to work even harder to continue to extend it. I hope we get some [kemenangan] in the last period so I can have a close race. »

Verstappen now finds himself in a similar situation to that experienced by Hamilton during the 2017 Canadian GP, when he was able to equal Senna’s record of 65 pole positions during the Montreal weekend. To commemorate his achievements, Hamilton received a replica of Senna’s helmet after qualifying.
