F1 News: Lando Norris believes Ferrari is “definitely a bit ahead” of McLaren after Friday’s F1 practice for the Canadian Grand Prix.
Both practice sessions at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve were disrupted by rainy weather, meaning neither team was able to run optimally on the dry circuit. Norris managed to dominate the morning session with most of the laps being done in the middle of the laps.
However, in the second session Norris was at the back of the field, five seconds behind Fernando Alonso’s pace. Despite the changing conditions, Norris seemed to have his hierarchy figured out, with Ferrari in the lead.
“It was never enough, but we learned a lot. In fact, it’s not dry. To be honest, we haven’t learned enough,” Lando Norris said. “We’ve done tricks [paling sedikit]I think, of all [di kondisi kering]. Not the best with it, but in wet conditions it’s plenty, [kami] is in a reasonable position. At the moment, I think we seem a little off base. Ferrari seems a little ahead. »
“I don’t know where we are at the moment, because the conditions keep changing, so whether you do the first lap when the track is best, or the last lap when the track is best, it changes everything, but I don’t know,” he added.
Team leader Andrea Stella predicted an “eventful weekend” with more rain forecast. “Today’s session was also affected by the rain,” he added. “This means we haven’t learned much about tire behavior, car settings or even our competitive position.”
