Canadian coach Jesse Marsch announces lockdown strategy Lionel Messi will be played in the semi-final Copa America 2024.

Canada will face Argentina again in the most famous football event on the American continent. Previously, the Reds lost 0-2 to Team Tango in the group stage.

The defeat in the opening match of the Copa America 2024 was an important lesson for Marsch. Messi’s role in the Argentine game is still considered important by the coach who has managed RB Leipzig and Leeds United.

“We will control Messi better. In the first match we gave him too much freedom. That will be very important,” he said, as quoted by Tyc Sports.

Marsch stressed that Canada will try to win the match and not just defend for 90 minutes.

“It will be an extraordinary opportunity for us. We will not just defend, we will play our own way and see if we can maintain that,” said the coach, who is also rumoured to be in charge of the South Korean national team.

“The game against Argentina will be the best we have ever played, and even if it might not be good enough, we will try,” Marsch said.

In the group stage match, Messi did not score a goal against Canada. However, he has opportunities for himself as well as other Argentine players.

Messi was recorded as providing the key pass for the first goal scored by Julian Alvarez and providing the assist for the second goal scored by Lautaro Martinez.
