HOLOPIS.COM, JAKARTA – The Argentine national team managed to qualify for the final round of the Copa America 2024, after winning 2-0 without reply against Canada in the semi-final.
The match between Argentina and Canada took place at MetLife Stadium on Wednesday (10/7) morning WIB.
In the match, Canada managed to suppress the Argentinian defense early in the game, but a number of chances they created still ended in stalemates.
Argentina responded in the 10th minute through Lionel Messi, but his shot still went wide of the Canadian goal.

Argentina then managed to score a goal in the 22nd minute, when Julian Alvarez created a goal and then fired a shot that Canadian goalkeeper Maxime Crépeau couldn’t stop.
There was another chance for Argentina in the 34th minute, Angel Di Maria’s shot was still off target. Two minutes later, Lisandro Martinez also had a chance with a header, but it still came to nothing.
Canada nearly equalized in added time when a shot from Jonathan David couldn’t be blocked by goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.
The first half then ended with a score of 1-0 in favour of Argentina.
In the second half, Argentina finally managed to double the score thanks to superstar Lionel Messi after taking advantage of the chaos in the Canadian goalmouth.
Winning 2-0 allowed Argentina to play with more confidence. In fact, Julian Alvarez almost scored a second goal in the 61st minute, but his shot still ended in a deadlock.
Canada also had several opportunities after that, but its efforts did not bear fruit.
Until the final whistle, the score remained 2-0 for Argentina’s victory.
Thus, Argentina has the right to qualify for the final round of the Copa America 2024. Meanwhile, Canada will fight to win third place in the competition.
