Uruguay will hope to leave the 2024 Copa América with silverware when they face Canada in the third-place play-off at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Saturday.
Canada coach Jesse Marsh will continue to field midfielder Tajon Buchanan after he underwent surgery on a shin injury following the group stage match. There will be no more suspensions or injury concerns for the Rogues as they aim to make history.
The same cannot be said for Uruguay. While defender Nahitan Nandez will be available for selection after serving a one-match ban for his red card against Brazil, his team-mate Guillermo Varela has been ruled out of the semi-final against Colombia.
Marcelo Bielsa will also serve a one-match ban on experienced midfielder Nicolas de la Cruz after he picked up two consecutive yellow cards in the quarter-final and semi-final.
Another defender out for the remainder of the tournament due to injury against Brazil is Ronald Araujo, who of course missed the semi-final against Colombia.
