Komparatif.ID, Ottawa—The Department of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship (IRCC) of the Kingdom of Canada has released a memo containing recommendations for the process of accepting 300,000 applications from potential new citizens by March 31, 2023.
Media reports on Wednesday (10/19/2022) indicate that the Canadian government will approve, reject or notify the documents declared incomplete.
The Canadian government’s decision to provide opportunities to 300,000 immigrants for the 2022-23 fiscal year opens up opportunities for many Indians migrating to the country.

So far in the 2022–23 fiscal year, Canada has welcomed 116,000 new citizens and is on track to meet the target. In 2019–20, 253,000 citizenship applications were processed.
To achieve the citizenship goal, the 300,000 approved candidates must take the oath of citizenship, either in person or virtually.
Children under 18 will be able to apply for citizenship online at the end of the year.
Although there is no breakdown by number of countries, Indians are the largest immigrant group living in Canada in 2022.
In 2021, nearly 100,000 Indians moved Canada under the Temporary Foreign Worker Program and approximately 130,000 received work permits under the International Mobility Program.
During the period 2021-2022, more than 210,000 permanent residents also obtained citizenship of the country.
According to figures released by IRCC, the Government of Canada has issued 450,000 study permit applications. There are over 622,000 international students in Canada, including 217,410 in India as of December 31, 2021.
