In the match held at the Corintias Arena, Germany managed to beat Zimbabwe with a crushing score of 6-1. Germany’s goals were scored by Sara Daebritz, Alexandra Popp, Melanie Behringer (2 goals), Melanie Leupolz and Eunice Chibanda’s own goal. Zimbabwe scored a consolation goal through Kudakwashe Basopo.
The match was played out like a David and Goliath battle, with Germany appearing strong against Zimbabwe. It was recorded that the Panzer team managed to make 34 attempts at kicks, 13 of which were on target, compared to 2 attempts for Zimbabwe. With this result, Germany managed to temporarily take the lead in Group G, while Canada followed.
