The Paris 2024 Triathlon Olympic Games, featuring a 1.5-kilometer swim on the Seine, in addition to a 40-kilometer bike ride and a 10-kilometer run.
The competition took place in the French capital where the temperature reached 30 degrees Celsius. Before the competition, there was a major controversy over the state of the waters of the Seine, which were considered detrimental to the sporting event following the rains that occurred in Paris in recent days.
The faeces in the Seine exceeded the health limits in the three days before the match. This condition led to the postponement of the competition by one day. However, the bacteriological analysis revealed that the condition had passed the test.
The number of Escherichia coli (E.Coli) and streptococcus bacteria was also measured. The triathlon athletes were also allowed to swim in the Seine.
