Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Central Information Commission (KI) visited the Information and Privacy Commissioner (IPC of Ontario), Toronto, Canada, to review opportunities for business models integration for the management of personal data protection with the disclosure of public information.
Deputy Chairman of the Central Information Commission Arya Sandhiyudha said that the integrated data protection and public information disclosure management model implemented in Canada is one of the models studied by the Central Information Commission.
“So, when it comes to the relationship between personal data protection and public information disclosure, there are three models of approach: First, the integration model, an example is Canada,” said Arya in a press release received on Friday in Jakarta.
Last year, he indicated that the Central IC had visited Belgium to study the management model for the protection of personal data and the disclosure of public information implemented in the European Union, at know the synergy model.
“Second, the synergy model. For example, in the European Union, we also studied last year when we went to Belgium. So there are two institutions, but coordination by a coordinating institution is a kind of holding company,” he said.
He then said: “The third (model), of course, if later the option is for a separate institution.”
According to him, these three approach models should be open options that can be considered the best decision to advance the openness of public information and the protection of personal data in the country.
“Indonesia sees opportunities to integrate personal data protection governance with public information disclosure,” he said.
During the visit of the Central KI to the IPC Canada office on Thursday (3/10), Arya, who led the delegation, came with two other Central KI Commissioners, namely Rospita Vici Paulyn and Samrotunnajah Ismail.
The Indonesian delegation was accompanied by the Consul for Information and Social Culture, Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) in Toronto, Canada, sent by Consul General Dyah Asmarani.
On this occasion, the Indonesian delegation was then received by IPC Vice President Warren Mar, who is daily responsible for the information and personal data dispute resolution function.
