East Kutai Kepok Krecek Bananas will export 60 tons to Singapore

Bisnis.comBALIKPAPAN- Commodity banana original cracker East Kutai Regency will make the first direct export of 60 tons to Singapore from the port Kaltim Kariangau Terminal, Balikpapan City.

Head of Department of Food Crops and Horticulture (DPTPH) Siti Farisyah Yana said the activity will be inaugurated directly by the General Directorate of Horticulture of the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan).

“In collaboration with the Regent, launch first export direct 60 tons in Singapore. It is true that the president is going to inaugurate it, but there is an agenda letter representing the Ministry of Agriculture, in this case the Directorate of Horticulture,” he said by telephone, Tuesday (27/9/2022).

He revealed that East Kalimantan had exported banana in 2016, but interrupted due to a banana fungal disease. According to him, the acreage in 2016 was not as large as it is now, where in the past two years there has been a recovery in exports.

This is done by revitalizing abandoned banana trees by preparing 65,000 banana plants from the APBN and APBD funds, increasing the land areasocializing good culture to farmers and protecting plants from fungal attack.

Meanwhile, Taruna Bina Cooperative Chief Mandiri Priyanto said: at present it receives orders of up to 230 tons each month compared to last year which reached only 100 tons.

In the meantime he said banana East Kalimantan Kepok krecek was previously exported to Malaysia, Taiwan, Pakistan and Canada with production from four sub-districts of East Kalimantan namely Kaliorang, Kaubun, Sangkulirang and Karangan sub-districts.
