The United States was again shocked by a shooting at an elementary school (SD), this time located in Texas. The perpetrator of the mass shooting on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, local time, has been identified as a teenager.
“There was a shooting at Robb Elementary School/SD Uvalde, Texas on May 24, 2022 at around 11:32 a.m. local time,” the Indonesian Consulate General in Houston confirmed in a written message quoted on Thursday (5/26/2022) .
The DW Indonesia website reported that the shooting in Texas was the latest in a series of massacres in the United States and was the worst school shooting in the country in nearly a decade.
“There were 19 students and 2 adults (teachers) registered as victims. The perpetrator was shot dead by Apkam (security forces). In this incident, there were no casualties of Indonesian citizens (WNI)” , explained the Indonesian embassy in Houston.
Although no Indonesian citizens were injured, the Indonesian Consulate General in Houston appealed to Indonesian citizens to be cautious, be extra vigilant and immediately report an emergency to local security forces and to the Indonesian representative.
The Indonesian Consulate General in Houston noted that approximately 10,000 Indonesian citizens live in Texas. 50 of them live in the San Antonio area.
