Canadian Ambassador to Indonesia Nadia Burger and Canadian Defense Attaché Colonel Stewart Taylor welcomed the arrival of Her Majesty’s Canadian Ship (HMCS) Winnipeg at Tanjung Priok Port in Jakarta.
The visit of HMCS ship is one of the steps to continue to maintain bilateral relations between the two countries, Canada and Indonesia.
“Canada appreciates its strong and growing bilateral defense relationship with Indonesia, consistent with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Canada and Indonesia. This ship visit is an expression of our shared commitment to deepening this increasingly important relationship,” said Nadia Burger, Canada’s Ambassador to Indonesia, as stated in a written statement from the Embassy of Canada to Indonesia. .
“Canada views Indonesia as an important partner in the Indo-Pacific and appreciates the important role Indonesia plays in the peace, stability and prosperity of the region as a whole,” he added. .
HMCS Winnipeg, one of the Canadian Navy’s frigates, arrived in Jakarta for a visit from August 31 to September 3, 2022 as it transits the Indo-Pacific on Operation PROJECTION.
The ship will participate in cooperative operations with the Indonesian Navy to enhance security and promote stability in the region.
