Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday after the G20 summit in Nusa Dua, Badung, Bali, Prime Minister Trudeau said that with the Indonesian leadership/presidency, the G20 was able to produce the Leaders’ Statement from Bali.

Trudeau acknowledged that the process of reaching consensus or agreement at the G20 forum is never easy, especially when certain issues impact the global economy – involving many players, and when countries have perspectives. different.

“However, thanks to the efforts made by Indonesia, and again, we must recognize the leadership of President Joko Widodo, because it is through his leadership that all members of the G20 can find consensus,” Trudeau said. . Between.

He felt that the Bali Declaration had succeeded in containing a strong position. Especially in response to the Russian invasion in Ukraine and its impact which could trigger a food crisis and the global economy.

“Every party that has attempted this (success, red) is to be commended. Everyone who attended the meeting, especially the Indonesian leaders,” Trudeau said.

He felt that the Bali Declaration contains a number of quite ambitious goals, particularly those related to climate action and the global health architecture.

Still, Trudeau said the world expects a lot from the G20, so it’s only fitting that the world’s biggest economic forum sets ambitious goals.

Canada, he said, understands the various challenges facing Indonesia and other countries around the world.

Climate change, energy security, efforts to create a zero- or low-emissions world, and efforts to create decent jobs – so that everyone can provide for their families – are examples of the challenges he has mentioned.

“This is an issue that we have discussed together and we are working to resolve it,” Trudeau said.

G20 agreement

The G20 Summit took place on November 15-16, 2022 at the Apurva Kempinski, Nusa Dua, Bali, and resulted in an agreement which was summarized in the Bali Declaration.

The 52-paragraph document contains a statement of the G20 common position on a number of issues related to food and energy security, global health architecture and digital transformation.

Through the Bali Declaration, the G20 agreed to urge Russia to cease its aggression and leave Ukraine.

Although the country’s leaders realize that the G20 is not a forum for discussing and discussing security issues, they agree that security issues still affect the global economic situation.

Therefore, G20 member countries stressed the importance of upholding international law and a multilateral system that maintains peace and stability.
