Badminton News: Men’s singles badminton player Justin Hoh is looking forward to making his World Tour debut at the China Masters tournament from March 14-19 in Ruichang.
Justin Hoh, who was just promoted to the senior team last November, is looking to impress in his biggest senior tournament yet.
“I’m thrilled to be competing in my first World Tour tournament,” said Justin.
“It won’t be easy because the level will be higher than in my previous tournament, but I will give my all. My goal is to reach at least the quarter-finals.”
The 18-year-old is developing fast and has just won his first title of the year at Uganda International in Kampala.
Justin Hoh, who turns 19 next month, also finished second in the Iran International last month and reached the semi-finals of the Estonia International in January.
His fine performances allowed him to rise to the highest levels of his career. 84 in the last world ranking.
Although pleased with his recent accomplishments, Justin is not satisfied.
“I’m very happy to be able to achieve my goal of getting into the top 100 in such a short time, but it’s not enough for me,” Justin said.
“I want to keep moving up the rankings quickly. My goal is to break into the top 50 by the end of June. Winning the title was also a very good start to the year for me. Now I hope to continue this momentum and win more titles.
At the China Masters, Justin received a first-round bye and will open the competition in the second round against Canada’s Jackson Yang or New Zealand’s Ricky Cheng.
The other Malaysian players involved are Leong Jun Hao, Aidil Sholeh Ali Sadikin, Jacky Kok, Lee Shun Yang and Ong Ken Yon.
Justin is currently preparing a busy schedule where he will also play Vietnam International (March 21-26) and Osaka International (March 29-April 2) after the China Masters 2023.
