List of the 17 heads of state present at the G20 summit in Bali

At least 17 Heads of State will attend the Summit (summit) G20 in Nusa Dua, Bali, November 15-16.

Although the participation of 17 heads of state has been confirmed, 3 leaders of G20 member countries will not attend this year’s summit. The missing were the leaders of Russia, Brazil and Mexico.

However, a slew of other G20 leaders are sure to be in attendance, including US President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Here is a list of the 17 heads of state who will participate in the G20 Summit.

1. President of the Republic of Indonesia

As host, President Joko Widodo will certainly attend the G20 summit. During this meeting, Jokowi will focus on improving the economy amid the global crisis.

Apart from attending the G20 summit, Jokowi is also due to meet with a number of other heads of state. However, so far there has been no specific schedule for these meetings.

2. President of the United States

Biden will be present at the G20 summit. He even arrived in Bali since Sunday (13/11) evening.

Upon arrival at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Biden was greeted by Tourism Minister Sandiaga Uno and performed a hanging dance.

Biden then boarded the US presidential service car, nicknamed The Beast. Washington’s number one group of people were seen leaving the VVIP terminal at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport around 10:14 p.m. WITA.

Today, Monday (11/14), Biden is scheduled to hold a number of bilateral meetings, including with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

3. President of China

At a press conference in Bali while observing venue preparations for the event on Tuesday (8/11), President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said Chinese President Xi Jinping will attend the G20 summit.

Xi is due to meet Biden today.

He is due to arrive in Bali today, but there is no exact time yet.

4. President of South Korea

South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol reportedly attended the meeting in Bali, South Korean news agency Yonhap reported.

On the sidelines of the summit, Yoon plans to hold a bilateral meeting with Biden and a trilateral meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.

Yoon himself arrived in Bali today. reported KBSYoon landed in Bali on Monday morning after concluding a series of summits with ASEAN countries in Cambodia.

5. Prime Minister of Canada

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has said he will attend the G20 summit on November 15-16. Trudeau announced his presence directly on the official Canadian government website on Wednesday (2/11).

“Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced today that he will attend the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, the G20 Summit in Bali, in Indonesia,” the statement said.

Trudeau is expected to leave for Bali today, as reported World News.

6. British Prime Minister

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak will also attend the G20 summit. The British Prime Minister’s office said Sunak left his country and arrived in Bali on Sunday (11/13) local time.

One of the things Sunak will do in Bali is face off against China and Russia directly.

The British government said Sunak would ask developing countries to have access to credit for economic growth without relying on “exploitative” lenders.

Until now, the UK has often used an “exploitative” diction when talking about China.

7. Italian Prime Minister

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who only took office at the end of October, will also be present at the G20 summit later. Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said she had received confirmation of Meloni’s attendance.

Even so, Meloni had not yet arrived in Bali.

8. Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MbS) is confirmed to be physically present at the G20 meeting in Bali, representing King Salman.

Even so, there has been no official statement from the Indonesian Foreign Ministry and the Saudi Embassy in Jakarta regarding who will lead the delegation at the summit meeting later.

So far, there have been no reports of the Saudi leader’s arrival in Bali.

9. President of Turkey

Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will come directly to the G20 summit in Bali. On this occasion, Erdogan will discuss wheat with Russia, as indicated AFP.

“President [Rusia] Vladimir Putin told me on the phone that we should send grain for free, including to Djibouti, Somalia and Sudan. We agree,” Erdogan said in a televised speech Nov. 4.

Erdogan is due to fly to Bali on Sunday, but so far the president’s arrival has not been confirmed.

10. President of Argentina

Argentina’s President Alberto Fernandez also attended the G20 summit in Nusa Dua, Bali.

Fernandez will hold talks on issues including the climate and its impact on poorer countries, according to state media via Reuters.

According to a report by the South Atlantic news agency Merco Press, Fernandez will fly to Indonesia after responding to an invitation to dialogue in Paris, France.

So far, there have been no reports about Fernandez arriving in Bali.
