Badminton News: Senior Indonesian mixed doubles pair, Praveen Jordan/Melati Daeva Oktavianti have successfully qualified for the last eight of the Spain Masters World Tour Super 300 tournament and will next meet their juniors, Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati.
Previously, Praveen/Melati in the 2023 Spain Masters Round of 16 managed to beat Canada’s representatives, Ty Alexander Lindeman/Josephine Wu in two consecutive matches with a score of 22-20 and 21-18 in just 29 minutes .
Meanwhile, seventh seeds Rehan/Lisa managed to bring Taiwan’s mixed doubles Lee Jhe Huei/Hsu Ya Ching back in two fairly easy back-to-back matches at 21-12 and 21-14 in just 25 minutes. .
The match between Praveen/Melati and Rehan/Lisa will be the first for both pairs. On paper, Hylo Open 2022 champions Rehan/Lisa are more favored as they are ranked 13th in the world, while former All England champions Praveen/Melati are currently ranked 47th in the world.
In other matches, Pelatnas pair Amri Syahnawi/Winny Oktavina Kandow successfully qualified for the last eight of the 2023 Spanish Masters by defeating Denmark’s representatives, Jesper Toft/Clara Graversen through a close battle with a score of 19-21, 21 -13, 21-16 in 49 minutes.
In the quarter-final on Friday (31/3), Amri/Winny will face another Danish pair, Mathias Thyrri/Amalie Magulend who in the previous game eliminated mixed doubles Pelatnas, Adnan Maulana/Nita Violina Marwah in a 15-21 draw , 21 -14 and 22-20.
