On August 9, national coach Gordon Herbert will choose Canada as his home country.
“Canada has the most NBA players after the United States and is one of my World Cup medal contenders. It will be very interesting to face Canada so close to the World Cup final,” said Herbert, who hopes to make the senior team.
The world championships will take place in Indonesia, Japan and the Philippines from August 25 to September 9. Before the match in Berlin, where the German national team won bronze at the European Championships last year, a tournament in Bonn with an international match against Sweden (5 August) is on the schedule.
After a stop in Berlin, it will continue with the Super Cup in Hamburg, and China, Canada and New Zealand will be the guests of the four-man tournament (August 12 and 13). Germany will then face Greece, American Olympic champion and double European champion, at the BABA Abu Dhabi Showcase (August 18-20).
Six potential NBA players could make the Berlin and World Cup roster: Isaiah Hartenstein (New York Knicks), Maximilian Kleber (Dallas Mavericks), Dennis Schröder (Los Angeles Lakers) and Daniel Theis (Indiana Pacers) ) and Franz and Moritz Wagner (Orlando Magic).
