Previously, the Australian Embassy in Indonesia held a celebration of 70 years of Australian scholarships in Indonesia or 70 years of Australian scholarships in Indonesia. The event took place at Piazza, Gandaria City, South Jakarta on Friday, March 3, 2023.
2023 marks the 70th anniversary of the arrival in Australia of the first cohort of Colombo Plan Indonesia Scholars.
“Australia currently has over 200,000 Australian Indonesian alumni, these graduates include senior leaders present in government and also in the business sector,” said Australian Ambassador to Indonesia, Penny Williams in his remarks.
Australia is one of the most popular study abroad destinations for Indonesian students, with approximately 20,000 applications each year.
During this celebration, Ambassador Penny Williams officiated the event.
Australian university graduates are usually students from diverse backgrounds across Indonesia. Alumni have capacity and talent in their respective areas of expertise.
In addition, this event is also supported by the Indonesian government and the state secretariat. “I would like to take this opportunity to welcome our colleagues from the Indonesian government, as well as the team at the Secretary of State, thank you for your support and partnership in the implementation of the Australian scholarship program in Indonesia “said Ambassador Penny Williams.
Many alumni attended this event, inviting them through the emails they received, and the invitations were distributed via social media, so that Australian alumni could easily access it.
