Local police said Tuesday (3/14) that the driver of the truck that hit dozens of pedestrians in Quebec on Monday acted intentionally.
“The investigation shows that the act was premeditated. (It) also shows that people were randomly targeted,” said provincial police spokesman Claude Doiron.
The police are still investigating the motives of the suspect, who is currently more cooperative and willing to cooperate with the investigation.
As a result of this intentional incident, two elderly pedestrians were pronounced dead and nine others injured.
According to public broadcaster Radio-Canada, the suspect will be officially presented in court on Tuesday evening local time.
The accidental crash comes just a month after a bus driver was charged with murder for committing a similar act, at a daycare center in suburban Montreal, Canada, which killed two innocent children.
