German League News: The problems that have plagued Bayern Munich seem endless. On top of their drastic drop in performance under Thomas Tuchel, Die Bavarian now also have to lose Alphonso Davies who suffers a hamstring injury.
Canada’s left winger suffered a hamstring injury in his left leg in the last game against FSV Mainz 05 which took place at Mewa Arena on Saturday (22/04) evening WIB. In the game that ended in Mainz’s 3-1 victory over Bayern Munich, Alphonso Davies was only able to play nine minutes before being substituted by Noussair Mazraoui. Mazraoui was sent by Tuchel to fill the right-back position and swapped positions with Joao Cancelo who then played at left-back, a position vacated by Davies.
According to the AZ website, Alphonso Davies’ season is over as he has very little chance of recovering before the closing game of the 2022/23 season. According to the schedule published by the DFB, Bayern Munich’s last game in the Bundesliga will be on May 27, 2023 against FC Koln at the Rhein Energie stadium, while Davies’ best chance to recover is in mid-May. When Davies recovered, he also couldn’t be played immediately as he needed to catch up on his physical strength compared to the other players.
As quoted by the Transfermarkt website, Davies has made 38 appearances in all competitions so far this season, scoring three goals and contributing eight assists.
